My name is Jake and I am a remedial massage therapist in Newcastle. I believe a lot of my business success in the last 2 years can be directly attributed to my participation in the NEIS program.
The NEIS program helped to develop an in-depth business plan which has given me the skills to monitor the growth of my massage business to where it is today. Coming straight out of my massage Diploma training, my main focus was to massage but without the understanding of how to run a small business this would have been very difficult.
Whilst attending the program I got to be in a room with 15 like-minded business people, who were also starting their small businesses. This was great for support both during and after completion of training.
My Business plan provided my first two years of financial projections and, most importantly, a “break even point”. This was essential for knowing if my business was going to be a success.
Through completing this program, I received my Certificate IV in Small Business Management I also qualified for a Microenterprise business loan through the NAB. This enabled me to buy a business vehicle, complete with signage and some other things like a new ergonomic massage table.
With the mentoring program it has given me the opportunity to speak with and run through new ideas with an experienced business advisor, which has been incredibly helpful.
